Position Summary

Monmouth University is seeking applications for an Assistant Professor in Special Education. This position is for the 2018-2019 academic year and is tenure track.

The candidate would be expected to: teach special education undergraduate and graduate courses including seminars (online, hybrid and in a traditional classroom). The individual should be experienced in innovative instructional practices in inclusive settings, public school environments, integration of technology and classroom management.

Special Education Programs at Monmouth University include undergraduate endorsements and a variety of graduate endorsements and degrees. New faculty in special education will have opportunities to contribute to ongoing efforts to revise and expand our courses and programs. We offer opportunities for collaboration with faculty from general education.

Other Requirements

Earned doctorate in Special Education or a related field.

Three years of college/university teaching experience.

Accomplishments and/or a clear agenda in research. Ability to work constructively and collaboratively with members of the University, community, and teachers and administrators in school districts.

Knowledge of current literature, and assessment and data collection procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience teaching in higher education graduate and undergraduate courses. Skills and expertise in hybrid and/or online instruction and curriculum development. Knowledge and skills in classroom management, assessing students with various disabilities in inclusive and segregated settings.

Evidence of work with linguistically diverse populations, and experience in collaborative efforts with public schools. Familiarity or experience working with Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) and State Professional Standards for Teachers. Knowledge/skills in assessment, instructional technology and classroom management.
