Position Summary

The Monmouth University English Department is seeking applicants for two full-time Lecturer positions for the 2018-2019 academic year. These openings are full-time, non-tenure track appointments, which have a one-year initial appointment subject to subsequent multi-year reappointments without limit. Review of applications will begin on January 2.

The candidate should have a strong commitment to teaching composition at a comprehensive liberal arts university and will be expected to participate in First-Year Composition program development, to contribute to professional enrichment through workshops and campus-wide writing initiatives, and to maintain scholarly currency in composition pedagogy that will contribute to a progressive first-year experience.

The 4-4 teaching load will consist almost exclusively of composition courses with some opportunity to teach other courses in general education, as enrollment and scheduling allow.

The Department of English at Monmouth offers a vibrant environment for its faculty and students. We have undergraduate concentrations in literature and creative writing, and MA concentrations in literature, creative writing, and rhetoric. There are opportunities for faculty travel, professional development workshops, and grants for work in progress. Faculty participate in campus events such as the Visiting Writers Series, and work with members of the community on creative and scholarly projects.
