Position Summary

The Department of Curriculum and Instruction at Monmouth University seeks a tenure-track faculty member at the Assistant Professor level for the 2018-2019 academic year.

The successful candidate will teach Mathematics methods in the undergraduate and graduate initial certification programs. The individual should be experienced in innovative instructional practices in inclusive settings, public school environments, and the integration of technology.

Other Requirements

Earned doctorate in Mathematics Education or a related field or ABD candidates may be considered with degree completion expected by date of employment. Three years of experience in teaching in public schools.

Accomplishments and/or a clear agenda in research, publications, and professional service. Ability to work constructively and collaboratively with members of the University, community, and teachers and administrators in school districts.

Knowledge of mathematics curriculum and teaching methods, and the integration of technology into teaching and learning. Familiarity or experience working with Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), and NJ Professional Standards for Teachers. Knowledge of current trends and issues in Mathematics.

Preferred Qualifications

Evidence of work with linguistically diverse populations, and experience in collaborative efforts with public schools. Experience in teaching at the University level.

Responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, scholarship; service to the department, school, and university, supervision and/or fieldwork with students, cooperating teachers, and community members, teaching courses in partnership districts, collaborating with K-12 teachers, coordinating mathematics programs, and participating in CAEP accreditation efforts.
