Position Summary

Monmouth University is seeking applications for a Patrol Officer I.

The candidate would be expected to: provide security and protection of life and property to the University community by patrolling areas or buildings to enforce criminal and traffic laws.

Other Requirements

A graduate from the Police Academy in New Jersey. Three years of experience in a recognized State Law Enforcement Agency. Must have a current New Jersey Basic Course for Police Officer Certificate (formerly known as NJ Class A Certificate).

Willingness to respond to department call-ins required. Must be able to work rotating shifts/overtime and respond to emergency call-ins as needed.

Have the physical ability to pursue suspects while navigating obstacles such as walls, fences, stairs, and other unexpected barriers. Ability to apprehend and control suspects.

Ability to maintain high levels of exertion in times of emergencies. Ability to lift and carry suspects, prisoners, victims and people to safe areas. Ability to safely handle their assigned weapons and successful qualify at the designated range on a bi-annual basis.

Preferred Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalency. Some college.
